Tunes about Planes

Much-aforementioned flight coming up soon. I am thinking up all kinds of distraction strategies that may or may not help (plastic crochet needle, familiar movie on phone maybe) but also for fun am thinking about putting a fly-o-centric playlist on spotify.

The things that occurred to me so far are both not, prima facie, reassuring. Andrew Bird's "The Fiery Crash" ("...to save our lives you've got to envision the fiery crash") and Neko Case's "Lady Pilot" ("Aeroplanes were never built to fly...") but optimism has never been a big hammer in my toolbox anyway.

Anything else come to mind?

[There is some chance I will just sit and quake, but I thought I'd ask in case I am magically fine and feel like listening to songs about planes.]

Peter Paul and Mary - I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane (sad but not pessimistic)
Radiohead - Let Down (pessimistic but not about an aircrash)
Radiohead - Lucky (optimistic but still an aircrash)

This isn't a song, but it's airplane-relevant and I've listened to it on planes (and everywhere else, as it never fails to cheer me): Cabin Pressure.

Liz Phair's "Stratford-on-Guy" is my all-time favorite plane song. (Especially being from Chicagoland, as I am.)

Francine is a Boston band who should be loved by millions more than they actually are. Here's their gorgeous song "Airshow."

Red House Painters' "Cruiser" starts on the streets of L.A., but ends in takeoff.

Richard & Linda Thompson's "Jet Plane in a Rocking Chair" is a must-add.

If you must go with "Leaving on a Jet Plane", I'm going to recommend Tarnation's version.

Björk's "Aeroplane" deserves a mention.

It's not one of my favorite songs of theirs by any measure, but here's "Hop A Plane" by Tegan and Sara.

"Runway" by Pulsars is one of my faves, but it's not on Spotify or even YouTube. Deep cut, I guess.
