Hi everybody. The World Cup final game is scheduled for 8 AM Pacific Time this Sunday. Does anyone know of a place that will be opening its doors early to show the game in Berkeley or Oakland?

Response by poster: I already know about the outdoor screening at the Berkeley Art Museum (reluctant to go because it might be foggy and chilly) and the screening at the Parkway (don't want to pay $15 to watch something that's showing on network TV). Thanks!

I'm 99% sure Commonwealth will be open for it. It's a fun place although it gets packed even for games that aren't the World Cup final.

Bobby G's Pizzeria in downtown Berkeley (Shattuck and University, right near Berkeley BART) will be open.

Paulista Brazilian Kitchen & Taproom in Oakland has been showing all the matches this month--and crowded even at the 7am ones.

Check every place that calls itself a "pub". Everywhere I've lived, my locals have opened as early as 5am (and generally offer excellent fry-ups for breakfast) for...well, actually, for pretty much any game but definitely for huge games.

You can also search gamewatch, but anything you find you should double-check against the site's homepage/social.

The new parkway theater in Oakland would be a great place to see it. Doors open at 7 AM and it’s an easy walk from the 19th St. BART station. I understand the tickets are going fast; good luck finding a comfy place. Scroll down to get to the Sunday World Cup section.

Sorry, did not notice that you already had the parkway listed. I thought it was only seven dollars but I might be wrong.

You might try Ben'nNick's on College Ave in Rockridge.

Seconding Bobby G's, I used to live above the restaurant. A caveat though: during the 2010 World Cup, which also had pretty early games, the place did get packed, earlier than I'd expected. It's not a huge restaurant. My lazy ass had planned to roll out of bed and head downstairs like 15 minutes before the game started, and that was not smart, all the tables were already full and it was basically standing room early. So factor that into your plans.

Rooz Cafe on Park in Oakland will definitely be showing it. It’ll probably get pretty full, note.

The former Cafe Trieste* at the corner of Dwight and San Pablo in Berkeley.

*The name is now something generic
