Pasteurized shell eggs, or whole liquid eggs-in-a-carton, in Los Angeles

Where can I find pasteurized eggs in the shell, or cartons of whole liquid eggs (not colored and flavored egg whites) in the San Fernando Valley (of LA), hopefully in/around the West Valley/Northridge area? My best leads have come up empty, including the nearest Whole Foods.

I have yet to closely examine other Whole Foods locations, or the Sprouts markets in the area - but I know Sprouts didn't carry either when I was living in the Sacramento area. The only place I've ever seen pasteurized shell eggs was one occasion at a Raley's in Roseville - and there are no Raley's down here, of course.

Nothing at the Whole Foods on Tampa, not even anything yellow in a carton, just egg whites. Googling suggested Albertson's might carry Safest Choice-brand pasteurized eggs, but the one I checked had nothing of the sort.

Am I going to have to make specific trips to Gelson's or Bristol Farms to check?

I miss runny yolks, but pasteurized shell eggs are the only reasonably safe way for me to get those from now on. I'd be happy with pasteurized whole liquid eggs too, for other applications where I might not absolutely fully cook the eggs.

If you sous vide eggs in the shell at 57c for two hours you’ll pasteurize them, and for most raw applications they’ll appear completely normal. If you’re planning on only consuming pasteurized eggs, this would be a worthwhile purchase. For something like this, even a lower rent sous vide machine would do the trick. You can pick generic ones up for $50 these days.

We will routinely pasteurize eggs for things like holandaise sauce and other lesser-than-safe-temp recipes. The eggs cook up just fine for other applications too.

I think Gelsons carries the Davidson’s Pasteurized eggs. Instacart says they do:

Yeah, I was just about to say Instacart will tell you. I live in your area and it shows that Gelsons can deliver Davidson's eggs to me. Not sure if it's the Reseda or Hayvenhurst store (maybe both). Try calling and asking.

Oh, and I also checked Whole Foods and Sprouts, and Instacart says they *don't* carry pasteurized shell eggs. But Whole Foods does carry NatureFed Cage Free Liquid Egg Product; not sure if that meets your specifications.

Just call them and ask! Don't drive over there to check! Pick up the phone! (I too sometimes think, "ugh, do I have to just drive over there and check" before I remember this. Call them! The thing is, if they don't have them, they might be able to tell you who does.)
