Where do you go to get authentic political discussion?

Where does one go, on the internet or other, to find authentic political discussion? Specifically, philosophical ideological discussion. More principles, power, and morality; and less politicians, party, and policy.

Normally even when I happen to find somebody who is not just trying to push buttons, it is usually on some forum where the peanut gallery has a bias that they find someway to tell my conversation mate that he is doing a disservice by engaging with me and my ideas.

I liked the idea of MetaFilter and thought the low yet not zero barrier to entry might generate a place to discuss ideas, but to spur the kinds of conversation I want it looks like it would be considered chatfilter or self-promotion. It doesn't seem like this is the place.

My ideas are well thought out, but belong to an ideology that is a minority in a minority. So when people find out that they don't like my conclusions, it is easy flame, disengage, and forget it ever happened.

/r/PoliticalDiscussion is pretty decent and active, and not limited to US politics.

A whole-range political spectrum place of discussion, is, as far as I know, impossible.
If you're a minority within a minority, a place focused on that second minority might be the best you can do. Say if you're an anarcho-syndicalist, you could still find traction in a more general anarchist space.

I get what you mean about Metafilter, while great in many ways for political discussion, does have higher tensions and chatfilter concerns than many places.
While I understand not wanting to give specifics, recommending any space is pretty much impossible afaik without some indication, as there are certainly lots of places which are more concerned with principles/power/morality than immediate politics, but they all have a tendency.

Usually, as far as I can tell, people cover the principles/power/morality side in readings and discuss the political action/praxis side of things. Discussion the methodology of praxis is where the morality/principles/power angles are really sharpened into the fore, as you see how they actually operate in reality.
Possibly some sort of philosophy space might cover what you're looking for, but they tend to be really abstract, and if they're really open to everyone, completely disconnected from reality.

I can't promise I can help, but if you wanted to MeMail me your ideology, I would attempt to recommend a space or two, with a promise of no attempt at conversion or argument.

The comments on Rod Dreher's blog can get a little overheated at times, but he does a good job of moderating them. He's a pretty easygoing, non-confrontational guy by nature, so even though he has some beliefs that others disagree with strongly, he tries to avoid coming across as mean-spirited. He's also a pretty significant minority-within-a-minority (although I suspect it's a different kind than you are), and it seems to me that there's probably a little more tolerance for minority views (even differing ones) than most political spaces. There are a couple of things that would be a hard no for some people, though, so beware.

Crooked Timber has some very well informed commenters though, it's civil but not a huge range of viewpoints.
