Weird to invite board members?

I recently moved into a co op and it's, quite frankly, perfect.

We are having a triple birthday celebration/welcome home party with an (unplugged) band and chair massages. Cake and coffee and the Midwest potluck thing. This will be at the clubhouse, which is free of use to all members.

Would it be weird to invite the six board members, who range widely in age and stripe? Am I crossing boundaries or simply overthinking it?

No invite them! It's not weird, it's friendly.

My take (also Midwestern) is that it would be fine to invite them — but it also wouldn't be surprising if they were like "Oh that's very sweet of the Simpleton family, I'm sure they're just being polite though, I won't actually go." So, like, do extend the invitation, don't read anything into it if they don't show up.

Response by poster: I should add we're having poetry and a house blessing. (I wanted to get the fire spinners but they book up fast.) So there really should be something for everyone.

Totally fine. The party is already such a fun mashup that it seems natural to invite the new folks from your great new home.

One of my neighbors held a party for everyone in our 35 unit building when the evil super retired.

Maybe invite some other neighbors, also? Especially ones near you? Board members are important, but so are the people who just maintain social connections in spite of their busy schedules, and those who take the time to pick up trash/report problems/take the time to generally be considerate.

I live in a friendly NY co-op, and this would be a perfectly normal thing to do.
