wonky backup camera

I drive a 2015 Sonata. A few weeks ago I noticed a strange problem with the backup camera. When active it now shows part of the fender. The red box gird is now about half gone. It is as if the camera has tilted down. Approximately the bottom 1/5 of the screen shows the fender. The camera has not been bumped or damaged nor has it moved in any way.

The car is still under warranty and I could take it back to the dealer. I just hate dealing with dealerships. This question is really more out of curiosity as I always turn my head when backing. A google search on this problem has turned up nothing.

Have you physically inspected the camera on the back of the car? It seems like it was jostled or slipped in some way and is no longer aligned.

I'd say it's pretty clear someone has smacked your bumper and just not damaged the bumper itself while misaligning the camera.

Take it to the dealer if it's under warranty. If for no other reason than resale value. It got bumped out of position even if it's not obviously moved/damaged.

Is it by chance a multi-angle camera? When I first got my Honda Fit, I accidentally pushed a button while backing up and didn't realize that it switched the camera view (to my bumper). Took me a couple days to figure out what was going on.

The camera was likely jostled (by some asshat who parallel-parks by senses other than the eyes) so it changed positions inside its little dome. I'm not sure how to begin to access that dome from the inside, but that's likely what needs doing.

Take it to the dealer unless you can get some owner group tech to tell you how to do it.

I hate paying taxes but I do it. I would get this fixed. Backup cameras exist because they prevent accidents, like running over children. I almost got run over by a car backing out of its driveway once - thank goodness my mom was outside watching me ride around on my tricycle and noticed.
