How do I return a found phone?

I just found a dead, pin protected phone that seems like it had been lost for a while- how can I return it to its owner?

I just found a phone with a dead battery in the woods under a log while foraging (in an area two hours away from where I live...) It looked like it had been lost for a while, considering that it was covered in dirt and leaves. I charged it up but it's pin protected. I did see that it's a T-Mobile phone. What's the best way to try and get it back to its owner, especially given that I won't be able to travel back to where I found it?

You should be able to drop it off at any T-Mobile store, and they can recharge the phone and get it back to it's owner. They will be able to look up the owner's info.

I have dropped off phones at stores before; it's not a problem.

Is it an iPhone? If so, you can ask Siri “whose phone is this?” while it’s locked.

Yes, take it to the T-Mobile nearest the trailhead is what I'd typically do. But I guess any T-mobile would work.
