help me move across the country!

i need to relocate from portland, or to boston for a new job. help me do this in the least painful way possible!

first and foremost, please give me any recommendations for movers that you have had good experiences with. we all know that moving sucks and i will already be working remote at the same time as i am supposed to be arranging the move
(i will moving roughly a 3BR house worth of stuff and a car, and i am single, if that matters). i want to have to do as little as possible, so i need movers who will pack, load, ship, unload for me—ie: white glove. my company is a startup so they don't have a department that arranges these things but will be giving me $10,000 for the relocation. the physical relocation will not happen until mid-summer (mid-end july).

i would also love any advice about transporting my dogs. i don't believe driving them
will be a feasible option. i have an 8lb mini doxie who can obviously travel on the plane with me, but i also have a 75lb weimaraner who i know will be highly stressed by the transport. should i ship them together?

also, any if any portlanders have recommendations for great property management companies, i would love to know as i will be renting out my portland house.

anything else that is relevant that you can think of would also be highly appreciated!

Flat Rate Moving is not, like, "moving significant works of contemporary art" fancy, but is a reliable higher-end company and will provide the services you've mentioned.

Gentle Giant is a fantastic high-end moving company, they provide exactly the full-service white-glove experience you are looking for.

Gentle Giant is excellent. They started in Boston & have a big presence in Massachusetts, but it appears that their closest location to you is in Seattle.

You can’t fly a dog in cargo in the summer - it’s too hot. If it was my dog I would drive.

Seconding that you'll need to drive with your dogs. Luckily it'll be summer so you won't have to take a southern route to avoid snow and ice!

Driving with both dogs is probably your best bet, as you can stop whenever you need to, you can be present to reassure them if they get anxious, and you can supervise them the whole time. It *is* a long drive, for sure, but there are quite a few national hotel chains with pet-friendly policies -- La Quinta is one, and they will allow two pets per room, which is great.

But if you're not able to drive, pet transportation services will drive your dog door-to-door. Whether you'd want both dogs to travel together or to just ship the Weimaraner will probably depend on their relationship -- if the Doxie will help the Weimaraner keep calm, and the Doxie won't get overstressed, it may be more expensive, but easier on the Weimaraner, to have the service take both.

This will probably cost more than flying with the Doxie in-cabin and the Weimaraner in cargo, but it's also probably less scary for the Weimaraner, and having someone pay for your move means the cost is offset. I don't have a particular service rec because I don't know anyone who's done it cross-country, just regionally, but look for a long-established service with good reviews, preferably one that says it provides you with regular trip updates en route.

This is not entirely true and depends on airline. Alaska, for example will ship in summer but advises early morning or late night flights. They will, however, decline if the destination temp is too high.
