Is there a way to stop bots from following my tumblr other than blocking them one by one?

I have way too many followers to go through them all and weed out the bots. I keep getting new bot followers and have to block them as they follow me. I find the porn ones particularly annoying though I know they follow everyone in the hope of gaining attention (my tumblr doesn't have anything even remotely explicit. All pictures of humans are fully clothed).

Is there a way to stop bots from following? I would like my follower count to be accurate, not inflated by bots.

Advice for distinguishing bots from real users also welcome.

Best answer: Not without making your blog harder to get to (e.g. by hiding it from search results or turning nsfw-mode on), I'm afraid. I think if there were better ways of stopping it, Tumblr would've done something to prevent it themselves. I've kinda stopped giving a crap about it (or my follower count) on my tumblr because of bots in any case, 'cause it's such a time sink otherwise.
