Name That Bug

I found this dead bug in my bed. What is it?
I took a few pictures with my somewhat crappy phone camera. It's a reddish brown bug, pretty small, lots of little legs that you probably can't see on the picture. I also saw a small brown (think dried blood) spot near where I found it. Do I have a bed bug? A new form of a tick? It doesn't look like a deer tick or the small black ticks I've previously seen around here.

Shiny teeny beetle. Not bedbug. Not tick.
My guess is the little spot, if related to bug, is more likely a bit of bug juice when it got squished.

Best answer: It looks like a carpet beetle to me, but the photos aren't very detailed. It doesn't resemble a bedbug at all from my experience.

That's way too big to be a bedbug. Not sure what it is, but I'm 99% sure it's not a bedbug.
Disclaimer: I brought home bedbugs from a hotel about a decade ago.

It looks like a tortoise beetle to me — note the flattened rim extending around the sides of the thorax and wing cases. i.e. something like this, although not necessarily that exact species.

Several experts hang out in the /r/whatsthisbug subreddit. It might be worth asking there.

Just noticed I messed up that link earlier. This is the kind of thing I’m talking about.
