Looking for public discussion forums in Portland

Are there any venues for publicly talking about ideas, projects, discoveries along the lines of TEDx but organized locally? Speaking forums for Meetups seem to be like Toastmasters, for improving speaking abilities, but not discussion. Or what about national forums that schedule local events? What is a list of those?

Pecha Kucha Portland OR! I don't have personal experience with Portland's but have attending some presentations in other cities.

This obviously has a literary bent, but Powell’s has speakers on diverse, interesting topics.
