Where's the upbeat pop-funk?

I've been on a Vulfpeck kick lately. I'm digging their entire ouevre, but especially the treacly-sweet pop-funk Motown-tinged stuff. Exhibit A: Animal Spirits. Exhibit B: Back Pocket. Who else should I be listening to?
I love bands I do not quite understand and I really do not quite understand VP.
Does Alex Cuba fit? Cuban funk?

I'm guessing you've heard this already, but just in case...
Your songs remind me a bit of Portugal. The Man's 'Feel it Still.

Check out Beck's latest album Colors. Very pop-funk and unlike some of his earlier stuff, it stays right on the beat and is very accessible.

Best answer: Scary Pockets? They feature members of Pomplamoose (Jack Conte), occasionally Vulfpeck members and singers that you've probably also seen with Postmodern Jukebox, just to give you an idea.

TWRP: they're extremely silly electro-hairmetal funk and they know it, but they are funky mothers from another planet - The Hit (feat. Ninja Sex Party)

Best answer: Aaron Childs - Pressure
Gavin Turek- Leave it on the Line
Poolside - Do You Believe?
Janelle Monae- Make Me Feel
Unknown Mortal Orchestra- Cant Keep Checking My Phone
Little Scream - Love As A Weapon
Bo Saris- Shes on Fire
These may just be on a similar vibe.. not quite cut your lip on that funk but get somewhere around there

Best answer: I am humbled to be able to introduce you to your new favorite song (if you don't know it already)
Brothers Johnson's STRAWBERRY LETTER 23
(that's not your imagination, the music dips out completely and then restarts again from the beginning. it's an absolutely astounding track. enjoy)

Tuxedo- Do it
Both have a lot to offer outside those singles. Tuxedo has super juicy synths, The Bamboos have more classic instrumentation and sound, as well as a lot of great instrumental stuff.
Also: expect this genre to blow up in the next few years, Vulfpeck just scored an Apple commercial so lots of eyes are on that format now.
Of course there’s the classic old stuff e.g. Jackson Five but the newer stuff is a bit different.
