Boston Lunch Place

I was hoping it wouldn't come to this, but it has. I'm looking for a lunch spot for a department social lunch in Boston for later this month. Of course there are details.

...we will have 11 people. The restaurant must be downtown. Downtown defined as anything within the awkward circumference of: Boylston St Station, Charles MGH, North Station, Bowdoin, Govt Center, State St, Downtown Crossing, Chinatown and back to Boylston.

There are two pescatarians, one near vegan vegetarian, one very, very picky omnivore and seven run of the mill omnivores. It must be of moderate price ($10 - $15 entrees) but nice. My supervisor has said we must all be able to sit at one long table, not divided up.

Please do not recommend Carrie Nation. We have done Carrie Nation to death. I do not like Carrie Nation and want to go anywhere that isn't there. Please also do not recommend Sam LaGrassa's.

All other recommendations will be gratefully considered.

Possibly Kinsale? I'm pretty sure they could do a party of 11 in a long table and the menu has a couple fish and a couple vegetarian items.

I was going to say Kinsale also. I'm sure I've been there in a group that big before. (Also, I am a very, very picky omnivore, but, when it comes to group lunches, I just sigh and suck it up. Everyone else can't be expected to subsidize my tastes.)

Would hot pot work? The Q is pretty good.

Do check out Cultivar! They are fantastic and can accommodate all of the above!

These suggestions have at least a couple of choices for the pescatarians and the almost vegan. At $10 to $15, I'm afraid the very, very picky omnivore might have to lower expectations.

Brandy Pete's in the Financial District has a private room on the ground floor and upstairs seating, both of which could handle 11 at one table. White tablecloths, a decent lunch menu, and they're used to handling a regular business lunch crowd.

Antonio's in Beacon Hill by Mass General has classic Italian food and good lunch specials. It's a small space so I'd check to see if they can do 11 at one table.

I've heard good things about State Street Provisions but haven't tried it myself. Ditto on checking to see if they can do 11 at one table.
