How can I find out Urban Outfitters CD playlist?

Does anyone know how to find out Urban Outfitter's CD playlist?

A few weeks ago, I heard a really beautiful song while shopping there that was somewhat in the style of Sigur Ros (beautiful, epic noise rock with strings, etc). I had asked the clerk what it was called, but I didn't get around to searching for the CD until weeks later and it turned out to be completely the wrong song.

Does anybody here work for Urban Outfitters or possibly know where to find their list of approved CDs online? This song has been haunting me for weeks and I'm desperate to find it.

Generally these type of stores get muzak CDs that go in a special player. A staff member can go back and tell you the title.

Response by poster: Yeah, I tried that, but they gave me the wrong title :( I'm sure if I went back now, they'd probably have no idea what I was talking about. I suppose I could try that, though, if mefi fails me.

Do you remember any of the lyrics at all?

This might be the CD you're talking about; I think one of my roommates got this CD in the fall. I'm not really familiar with Sigur Ros, but it might be the m83 track, heard here. The Amazon page for the relevant m83 album, Before the Dawn Heals Us, suggest Sigur Ros as a similar artist.

Disc one:
"Love Song," Death Cab For Cutie
"Slow Hands" (Britt Daniel mix), Interpol
"We Are Nowhere and It's Now," Bright Eyes
"Hangin' Tree," Desert Sessions 7/8
"Jesus, Etc." (live), Wilco
"Apt. 101," Hot Hot Heat
"The Trial of the Century" (live), French Kicks
"Piece of Crap" (live), Futureheads
"The Bear" (live), My Morning Jacket
"Heaviest Heart," Magnet
"American Wife," Rilo Kiley
"Fugitive Motel" (RDJ2 mix), Elbow
"Fingers," Clinic
"In a Funny Way," Mercury Rev

Disc two:
"Matinee" (Headman remix), Franz Ferdinand
"Huddle Formation" (radio session), the Go! Team
"Nacher Anthem," Grandaddy
"Take My Temperature," Kaiser Chiefs
"Lullaby," Earlimart
"I Disappear," the Faint
"Barnowl," Caribou
"Lost at Sea" (remix), Eisley
"Everyday," Dios
"Isabel," Juana Molina
"The Song the Sinner Sings," Adam Arcuragi
"A Guitar and a Heart," M83"

Response by poster: duende: not even close, sorry :(

Thepinksuperhero: There was a vocal, but it was very backgrounded, and I'm not sure there were any words. It was like a 7-8 minute track and was one of those Godspeed You Black Emperor kind of deals where it built and built and built to a climax. (But it definitely _wasn't_ GYBE because it was too cheerful/pretty)

Since you didn't mention which CD you found, I'll ask... did you actually listen to the new Sigur Ros album (Takk)? Because it really sounds like what you're describing, especially tracks 2 and 3, which I've been obsessing over lately. Amazon's samples are a taste but miss the huge awesome parts... You'd probably like it even if it's not the particular song in question.

Also, I think some Urban Outfitters will just play whatever CD the staff feels like at the time, not necessarily a corporate-approved mix.

The Urban Outfitters website has a playlist of music that I believe is played in all the stores - I don't know if it has what you need, but worth checking out...
