Woke up with this song in my head—but what is it?

I woke up with this song in my head, with a specific melody and lyrics: "When you can't find the answer(s), days keep on slipping away." Something like that. I think it has acoustic-guitar backing. Here's how the melody goes. Usually I'll Google songs like this that I can't figure out, but I'm getting nowhere with that today. So maybe you guys can help. What is this song?

My initial thoughts were something by Golden Smog or Milow, but I haven't found a song by them so far that fits the bill. It could also be something I've heard on the radio recently—it might be something embarrassingly popular, heh. I'm also not 100 percent sure of the first line: It could be "When you don't know the answer" or similar. Help!

Best answer: Is it “Bisbee Blue” by Calexico? The lyrics are “when you can’t find the hours, days keep on slipping through” but the melody is close.
