What song is this?

I have a tune stuck in my head that I believe is from the 80's. I have a recording of me banging an approximation of it out on a keyboard. Can you recognize it? You are my only hope of getting to sleep tonight!

Here is my quick rendition. At first I thought it was Howard Jones, but now I don't think so. The tune I shared is an instrumental solo in the song I am thinking of. It is right on the tip of my tongue and driving me crazy.

Possibly this song from the Revenge of the Nerds soundtrack.
Also possibly Just Can't Get Enough by Depeche Mode.

Best answer: I think it is Howard Jones, New Song. If I did this right, it should queue up at the instrumental; if not, it's at 1:42.
