How can I reseal my wonky iPod case?

I've just replaced the battery on my iPod classic, but because it was a pain to open and I had to pry the thing apart, there is now a gap at the sides between the front plate and the case (here's a pic) I can live with how it looks as I'm going to put a silicone case on it, but I'm concerned that it might leave it vulnerable to damage. What can I put on there to 'seal' the sides?

Everything is working perfectly, it was just damage from taking it apart and now the clips won't realign back in the case. This was a last ditch attempt to see if I could get it working before hunting down a replacement player, but I'd like it to be reliable for as long as it can!

I'd go with sugru: it's flexible and waterproof when set, easy to use and fairly forgiving. Also lots of people put it on their phones and seem happy with it.

Also voting for Sugru. Seems ideal for this situation - durable, non-conductive, and waterproof.

I think the clips and case are fixable. Check out step 21 on. I know opening it is a pain - I did this relatively recently when upgrading the disk to flash. The second time might be easier.
