Best Source for Timely Medical Information: What is the best place to find new and recent in-depth information (clinical studies, treatment protocols, etc.) related to specific medical topics? I'm thinking of a medical journal / search engine combo.

My interest is related to keeping the edge in the medical field by staying on top of developments within that field. Any professional researchers out there?

Best answer: Pubmed is usually as good place as any to start

On the subscription service side of things, Up-to-Date seems pretty decent. They have professionals reviewing the literature on an ongong basis and maintaing reviews.

It might not be technical enough, but Clinicaltrials.gov has lots of information about clinical trials themselves and also links to disease information, etc.

Yeah, stick with PubMed for medical journals.

Despite it's name, UpToDate is only revised three times a year. I highly recommend PubMed, you can even set up searches to be run automatically, and have recent articles on a topic e-mailed to you. Are there particular medical issues or fields you're interested in? There may be other specific places to look. "the medical field" is a pretty broad topic to stay on top of, even folks in the field can't do it.
