Is there a hosting and email provider that isn't completely garbage?

I don't want anything complicated, just something that *works*. No ecommerce, no huge traffic. Just a few domains with associated email accounts. I literally just want to be able to be sure that I receive email that I'm sent, and that the emails I send go where they're supposed to go. I use the associated email addresses for email sends to a mailing list for work, so I also want to be sure I don't screw that up somehow. What company actually works, doesn't sell all your private info, and doesn't have terrible customer service? I'm willing to pay more for something not terrible.

I'm quite happy with the service/support I get from namecheap.

I love pair. They do charge a bit more, but you get all the stuff you should get elsewhere rolled in. So no paying extra for privacy, etc.

I have no problem using their mail with IMAP, but will say I tend to just use their webmail most times.

Came here to say pair.com as well.

I use Site5.com along with Google's G Suite. This lets me use my own domain name while still using most of the Google services with it like Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs + Sheets, etc. My monthly spend is less than $20. I've been using this combination for something close to a decade (back when G Suite was called Google Apps for Business) with no problems at all.

I use namecheap and Google's G suite.

However you mention a mailing list... are you sending emails to many people at the same time? They may be getting blocked because they are triggering a spam filter. If you are regularly sending emails to a large group of people you may want to look into a service like MailChimp (free for up to X emails/month, cant remember how many exactly) to handle this for you.

I second Dreamhost.

I have a couple dozen clients and accounts on Webfaction. Several more on Dreamhost. Happy with both. I do think the performance on WebFaction shared hosting is better than DreamHost.

But is basic hosting what you're looking for? Are you, or someone for you, able to set up what you need?

I've used ICD for over 10 years now. Never a problem. I've got over 30 sites hosted with them.

I've been with Dreamhost for many years, but have been considering moving to a different provider due to having several experiences where mails I sent get blocked (due to blacklisting of the dreamhost mail server I send through). I understand that it's a shared host and this can happen, but I've reported this through their form and I haven't seen any improvement, or been offered any solution from them. So yeah, I like Dreamhost for the features they offer and the low price, but I wouldn't recommend them for being confident your mails will always go through.

My vanity domains have been on Dreamhost for years, with mail handled by Gmail. I've never had a complaint, and their tech support has been super fast with answers to any question I had.

G Suite for mail, definitely.

For hosting: I've had great experiences with Media Temple in the past. For simpler needs, you can just get space on a shared server that you can access via FTP or whatever. But their VPS product is great too.
