I found a group fiction project through TV Tropes and then I lost it

I am the type of person who starts browsing TV Tropes looking for something and then I get led off on a tangent by clicking a link, and on it goes until an hour later I break away because it's fifteen minutes past my bedtime. Along one such tangent, I read about a very interesting online storytelling endeavor...

But I didn't bookmark it. This last weekend I was suddenly reminded of the fact I had read about a large online storytelling endeavor, but I have no idea what it's about or how to track it down given how much TV Tropes likes to recategorize as it becomes more and more elaborate.

I do remember quite a bit about the actual history of the project as detailed at the TV Tropes article.

This core group of collaborators came up with the central interrelated stories, not all at once, but building off each other's efforts. The core group had some kind of corporate name for their group and the project.

As the stories gained more readers, others outside the core group took part as well, with the core group providing direction to help people write about different events along the timeline of the universe set up in the original core stories.

So that by the present day, the collection of stories by all involved has become sprawling.

The project has been around long enough on the Web that most if not all of the core group has retired from active authorship of new stories, though some of the oldbies may have come out of retirement to write again.

I keep thinking the stories are some kind of very niche sci-fi, something I know I would have been interested in checking out further when i had the time, but the actual genre is escaping me.

Any help? Thanks!

Found by searching, not first hand knowledge, so could easily not be what you're talking about, but is it this?
TV Tropes: Web Original / Orion's Arm

Another possibility along similar lines: Galaxiki

This actually sounds a bit like The Conversion Bureau - An extremely dark, multi-author My Little Pony fanfiction shared universe. Which I, too, discovered on TVTropes.

Might it be the SF/horror SCP Foundation? Wikipedia overview.

Did you check your browser history?

Response by poster: Everyone who has provided suggestions of what it could be, thank you, but none of those are it. :(

I wish I could check my history, but I changed computers the last summer and the old HD is inaccessible right now.

This'll probably drop down without being resolved, but if anyone has any ideas or stumbles upon something while surfing TV Tropes, keep me in mind. Thanks!

Shadow Unit?
A collaboration between Elizabeth Bear, Emma Bull, Sarah Monette, Will Shetterly, and maybe others? Sort of transmedia-ish, before that was really a thing. A lot of it was on LiveJournal.
This was a long time ago, so I'm not sure if it's still being updated.

Thanks everyone for suggestions.
