MemoryWiki or MemoryArchive?

NameFilter: We have a non-profit project called "MemoryWiki" (the "encyclopedia of memories.") We are thinking about changing the name to "MemoryArchive." Should we? Have a better idea?

likelihood of confusion - high
Change it.

Isn't this a self link?

The site is much less of a wiki than when it first started (and rightly so, in my opinion). (Discussed on MeFi here and here.) Something along the lines of MemoryArchive or StoryArchive would probably be a more accurate representation.

Wiki means amendable doesn't it? Not good for sound memories. Archive sounds too intimidating?

Why not MemoryPlace? MemoryHold? MemoryStore?

Marshall does like to link to this site in his comments rather a lot, caddis, but it was originally posted to the Blue by someone else.

There is a big difference between putting a some infrequent and on topic self links in comments and putting a self link into a post. That generally gets your account banned.

i think memorywiki isn't a fantastic name, but i can't think of anything better right now. 'memoryarchive' seems probably too broad and nondescript.

i think if you want to get something (re)amed, you probably need to link it so we can see what it is. if it's already been linked in the blue you probably aren't attempting to grab for traffic. sure, MarshallPoe could have waited a bit into the comments to do the link, but hey, that's just silly games, right?

Definitely ditch the Wiki part of the name - since it's not really a wiki in the usual sense, and because the term might well be unfamiliar to potential users of the site.

MemoryArchive is a bit stern and formal. How about MemoryBook?

Re: the self link - seems reasonable here, since we need to see the site in order to answer the question, no?.

[removed the link, it's in MarshallPoe's profile if anyone needs it.]

You can remove the link if you like. I only wanted to give people an impression of what the site was about if they didn't know. The question is an honest one--we really don't know what call the site. We've been discussing it for sometime for some time on this page and reached no conclusion. So I just thought I'd ask you... Trust me, we will take all your suggestions seriously. Thanks.

You could try to evoke the whole medieval place-memory technique and call it the Memory Palace or the Memory Table or something similar...

This is fun. Here are some ideas:

memstory (.net and .org available)
iRecall (.org available)
recallbox (.com, .net, and .org available)
thinkback (.net available)
yester (.org available)
happend (.net and .org available)
timeshared (.net and .org available)

I really like thinkback and recallbox. If I think of any more, I'll post 'em.

I like that quite a bit.

My first thought was MemoirLane.com too because it is evocative of MemoryLane, which would have been the ideal.

There's also MemoryVille.com available, which is fairly memorable.
