iPhone 5s running 10.3.3. Is there a jailbreak out there for me?

I've had this phone since 2014 and intend to use it until it is dead, but it's not customizable enough.

I've never jailbroken a phone before, but I hate the music player. The iTunes store doesn't like that I live in a foreign country. (And if I remember correctly, I'm eternally locked into the US store because I have like 15 cents or something left in my account.)
I miss the customizable, flexible, easy to understand Apple of my childhood. Let me install what I want!
Give me back my flying toaster screensaver!

Anyway: I know there is a lot of info out there. I googled for quite a while and looked through Metafilter, but the info I find either doesn't apply to my iOS/phone type and/or I don't know if the page/program/info is trustworthy or not.

I need advice.
I want to try jailbreaking this phone. Does a trustworthy method to do that for a 5s ("64 bit" I guess) iPhone running 10.3.3 exist? If so, please point me to it.
If not, should I update to ios 11 (eventually) and wait for the jailbreakers to release something good? Where is a trustworthy current source to get info on that?
Or, is this overall a bad idea, and I should leave this phone unmolested until it dies, then get an Android?

Thank you!

It's 2018. Customizable and flexible in a phone in 2018 = LineageOS.

Easy to understand simply doesn't exist any more. Not on any platform, phone or desktop or otherwise.

Response by poster: It looks like LineageOS is for android devices, so I'll keep that in mind in the future but I don't have an android device, and am primarily asking for advice on jailbreaking the iPhone I already have.

I am aware of the year and that I won't get everything I want. Please ignore the complaints if they're distracting.

Quite so. And per your last question, picking up one of those is indeed easily your path of least resistance toward owning a device you can bend to your own will when you find that your own opinion on how your own device should work differs from the manufacturer's.

It seems like 10.3.3 can be jailbroken, take a look here.

I found a step-by-step video, albeit on Windows, going through the steps to jailbreak 10.3.3 using Helix (a tool linked from the page mentioned above) here.

Let us (me) know how it goes! :-)

Cheers

Hola! Don't forget to get the battery replaced when you think it's dying or the phone stops keeping a charge. Like an idiot, I upgraded and then a few months later the news broke that apple slows down older phones via the updates. Also, don't update your phone if you can help it.
