DOS or Apple II game from late 80's - Famous explorers?

One of those childhood tip of your tongue things. I remember playing a game that felt very Oregon Trail like, only it involved naval exploration. I think there was trading and you had to try to go around the Cape of Good Hope. And even that, I am not 100% sure that I am remembering correctly. Hope this is enough to jog someone else's memory, because I am totally blank on a possible name, and my Googling is useless with such scant detail.

Seven Cities of Gold was amazing, but I doubt it's the one.

The timeframe of the childhood in question is pretty important.

Response by poster: Sorry, more info - I would have played this in about 1991, but it did not seem like a new game at the time at all in my memory. And I can't believe I left out probably the most important detail which was that I played this at school.

Best answer: I remember this game. I think you had to beat Vasco da Gama to India.

Yes! Thank you.

With that info I found it:

Sea Route To India (YouTube)

It was a Commodore 64 game which would partially explain why I was having trouble searching.

LOVED Seven Cities of Gold. In idle moments I will sometimes check if there's an online version of it available yet ...
