Okidata 362w printer problem

I have an Okidata 362w laser printer that won't recognize either of 2 new black toner cartridges. This is driving me batty.

The printer keeps giving me a "toner not installed" message. Worked fine until I replaced the last empty cartridge. No amount of fiddling with how it clicks in, sliding the locking slider back and forth, etc. seems to help. Brand new genuine Okidata cartridges. Anyone have any experience with getting around this issue?

I assume you've tried power-cycling the printer with the new cartridge installed?

Sometimes ink cartridges have a thin plastic film across the print head interface. It might look different than the last cartridges you installed. Take them out and look carefully to make sure they are off, or they got punctured if that is the type.
