Dressmaker in London, UK?

I have a career-defining public event coming up in January 2018. I need to look immaculate, and would like to hire someone to design and produce a dress (perhaps also a jacket) for this occasion. Does anyone have recommendations for a dressmaker in London that could handle this?

I've had good experience ordering made-to-measure clothes from this Etsy shop, but would like to try a face-to-face process this time if possible. Ideally, this would be someone with whom I could develop a working relationship and use them to produce more clothes down the line, copy existing clothes that I love, do basic alterations, etc.

Dry-cleaners in my area offer basic alterations, but no design or full tailoring/dressmaking.

I'd be more than happy to get this service from a one-person shop or similar very small side business, but really want a personal recommendation or specific advice on how to find someone.

My style is a mix of vintage glam and urban chic, or at least that's what I try for. For work, I favour lots of stretch jersey wiggle dresses and well-constructed tailored jackets. Somewhat classic, but always with a twist - so this needs to be in the dressmaker's style palette. And if it's relevant, I'm a UK size 12 and need someone who can design for a body with curves and a high waist.

I've seen this 2013 Ask, but it's out of date and also looking mostly for someone to do alterations.

I'm certainly willing to spend a few hundred £ on this, but can't go above ~£300 per garment.

Any and all help gratefully received!

Might John Lewis or Liberty have a suggestion? They both have massive haberdashery departments and might know of someone from their customer base?

Whereabouts in London are you?

Response by poster: South London, but will travel if I have to - I can get anywhere central-ish without much trouble (i.e. zones 1-3).

Best answer: Wendy Benstead made my wedding dress, and I was delighted with it. I know she does non-bridal work too.

I know of a few people near me in Walthamstow who could do this, so I suspect there will be other people nearer you. Have a hunt around for local social media groups and ask for recommendations.
