Do you have any experience with lift chairs for the elderly?

They're quite expensive, and my mother-in-law is satisfied with the comfort of the relatively new, non-lifting recliner that she already owns. She just can't stand up easily, so I'm looking into retrofitting the recliner. Is this - Enhansit (FB link) - a good solution?

Any other advice about lift chairs would be appreciated.

No clue about the Enhansit, but have you tried looking at Craigslist for lift chairs? Maybe even put out a request on FB? We ended up donating my father-in-law's lift chair to Goodwill when he passed.

Sorry, I also don't know about Enhansit, but I've recently been fitting out our home for my mom and we considered a floor-to-ceiling pole for one spot (though we ended up needing to go with something else because of weird space contraints).

My wife found a lift chair for not too-much-money at a local furniture consignment store. You need to spend some time looking, but the bargains are there, and Craiglist.

Came across one of these Upeasy chair lifts at a Rite Aid today.

Response by poster: I finally went with a model from Ashley, and the M.I.L. is perfectly happy with it. Only one problem: I didn't have fully charged backup batteries loaded when the power went out. Getting her out of the fully reclined position was a royal pain in the ass. You have been warned.
