Essay by daughter about immigrant father getting sick in factory?

I think I originally came across it via metafilter. I believe the family was from Southeast Asia, now in North America (California, maybe?). It is about the immigrant experience, as well as the father getting inadequate protection from hazardous airborne materials at work. I have searched extensively with no luck.
