Tuft and needle topper?

I purchased a tuft and needle matress. After a few weeks, it feels super supportive but too firm. Has anybody gotten a topper for this situation.

Do you have a brand of topper recommended? Would you just send the mattress back? Yes, budget is tight and I got it at a higher price before the current 100 dollars for a traditional mattress thing. I could just look for a traditional matress. I like medium to medium firm, and as an average size woman, this feels like extra firm but very supportive. If it could be like 30% less firm, I'd love it. But I think it's more supportive than other matresses I've tried. But I can't even decide if I like it. Suggestions please.

I got a Casper but returned it because it felt too soft to me. The tufts and needle was perfectly firm for me. You may want to just try another mattress as most of the internet mattress companies will let you return fairly easily. The Wirecutter has a nice rundown over here.

The topper I like is called a Geo Matt, made by Beauty Rest. I first saw them in hospitals for use with fragile orthopedic patients. It is a sliced foam mat, that is perfect, they come in 2.5 inch thickness, and 3.5 inch thickness. The 2.5 is plenty. They are just foam, so a cotton pad over the top is good. The foam ribs go upward. This would be perfect for a firm mattress. I used one on my floor this winter, before my mattress arrived here, and it was adequate for sleeping on carpet, there is enough cushion, but great bounce back. The cuts and shapes in the foam minimize sunken areas. I got a full sized one for $76, delivered by Walmart. I don't usually do them, but they were the only outfit that could deliver as soon as I needed it. I used a pair of these on a queen sized bed for years, they didn't get a groove or center sink.

Ikea memory foam topper, the most expensive one. Entirely returnable if it's not your jam.

Call Tuft & Needle. I saw on a couple of review sites when I was looking into mattresses that they will send out a free topper to certain customers (no idea the criteria), or partly pay for one I think?, who feel the mattress is too firm.

I was going to suggest contacting them also. I have heard of them offering toppers to customers as well.

Memory foam toppers are near-miraculous, as far as I can tell. Costco almost always has 2.5 inch toppers but we've had good luck getting them from Walmart in vacation situations. We used one on our Casper mattress and it went from "this is definitely too firm" to "ahhh".
