What to do in Mexico (Missouri, that is)?

(Asking for a friend) We’re headed to Mexico MO next weekend for the eclipse. Rather than fight traffic, we’ll be arriving on Saturday. So what do we do when we’re not watching the eclipse? We like interesting hikes, nice restaurants as well as dives/local gems, and anything on the quirky side or unique to the area.

The biggest attraction in the area is Mark Twain Lake and Cannon Dam. Lots of outdoorsy stuff. I haven't been there much since right after it was made but by all accounts it's worth a visit.

Zenith Aircraft, a small kit plane manufacturer is located at the airport in Mexico. Probably some neat small planes to see if you are interested in that sort of thing.
