best way to sell flight tickets?

I have a spare ticket from Seattle to Barcelona and know literally nobody who is willing to buy it. Airline won't refund me, so where can I sell this thing?

I bought a pair of tickets for myself and a friend to Barcelona as a gift, but there have been...complications preventing him from joining me. One of those complications is that he's broke, and I would feel gross charging him for an intended gift anyway. I would prefer to not eat the $1100 round trip ticket to a vacation I'm now taking alone, but it seems creepy to sell a ticket on Craigslist or ebay and Ryanair only refunds taxes and fees unless the ticketholder is basically dead or dying. Is there some website or somewhere to sell flight tickets that I'm missing?

Have you checked that the ticket is transferable? There is a site called SpareFare that claims to do be a marketplace for plane tickets you don't want, but all I know about them is that they showed up on google.

Response by poster: yeah, forgot some important info there. According to the extremely crisp gentleman on the customer service line: It's transferable and the dates are mutable, but there's a transfer fee of 75 euro, and the dates can only be moved within the same "season", so since the ticket is August-September there's only really wiggle room within that month timeframe.

Unless you're offering a deep discount on the ticket price, you can probably forget trying to sell it. Most people won't be able to be bothered with dealing with the transfer, even if it so happens that the date works for them.

No more or less creepy than selling it on another website. It is the issue of selling to a stranger? Then offer it up on Facebook and/or in an email to all of your friends and family. Be sure to explain that it is a transferable ticket and the time limitations.

Taxes and fees on airline tickets are often nearly half the selling price. Have you checked to see how much the refund would be? That amount should be the lowest price you accept for the ticket.
