Oregonians - Help Me Get Mom To The Beach

We're taking Mom to the Oregon coast (Lincoln City/Newport) but she's worried she won't have fun because of her MS. Any chance we could rent a wheelchair or other device suitable for the beach? She has her scooter (Pride Gogo power scooter) but we're not sure if it will get stuck in the sand.

I'm willing to travel pretty far to rent her a chair that will work so distance isn't really an obstacle. If we can't find a chair - do you have any suggestions for the most accessible access points in Lincoln City/Newport? For us, no stairs, flat surface and minimal distance between the parking lot and the water would be the most helpful. We have a van and an accessible parking permit.

Appreciate any help!

The whole Oregon coast is a state park, so definitely ask OPRD (Oregon Parks and Recreation Dept)! "For general park information, call State Parks Information Center

Her scooter won't work in the sand: it may be bumpy in wooden walks. A standard manual chair would be even worse. If her MS worsens in the heat, you can get a golf umbrella that clamps on to the chair.

It's further north and much more crowded, but Seaside has the paved boardwalk that parallels the sand for a couple of miles.

There may be a vehicle access point closer to Lincoln City, but if you drive to Cape Kiwanda you can drive right onto the beach and unload the chair there. If you go at low tide the sand will be very, very firm.

Apparently Manzanita, a bit north of Lincoln City, has free beach wheelchair loaners. Searching for "beach wheelchair rentals oregon" had quite a few other promising hits as well.

Newport is more accessible because it's not really beach-y. If you go into the old waterfront district, you can walk on sidewalks up and down the main drag.
