I'll be driving down I-80 and need a motel that will allow my 100 lb dog somewhere between Omaha and Iowa City. Please help :)
Check out GoPetFriendly.com . Omaha and Iowa City seemed to have a few hotels listed. Didn't check for places in between however; I'll leave that for the OP.

seconding La Quinta. They vary widely in quality, from merely acceptable to actually pretty nice, but they are reliably dog friendly and are usually located near to highways.

Marriott's Residence Inns are also pet friendly.

Motel 6s take dogs, but not in all their rooms, so calling ahead is advisable.

Best answer: I stayed at this La Quinta outside Des Moines 2 months ago with my 65-pound dog and it was fine. Good Thai restaurant down the road a bit, too.

There's a Drury in Des Moines, they might charge a fee. (but free happy hour!)
Red Roof Inn has also been pet-friendly in my experience.
