What are the best examples of the cultures, religions, ethnicities, and people of the world to be found in the city of Portland Oregon? Grocery stores, best restaurants, neighborhoods/enclaves, places of worship, etc. I am interested in learning more about all of the different people who make up the city of Portland.
For Eastern European groceries, you cannot go wrong with Good Neighbor (82nd near Holgate). Get a slice of honey cake if you go. Overseas Taste is around the corner from me and also wonderful, if on the tinier side. One of my Russian friends also likes Roman Russian Market on Division.

The WWeek did a great breakdown of places to get groceries back in 2014. It's a bit oudated, so it might not be fully accurate. Cursory glance looks like everything is still in tact. I would add Namaste Indian Grocery on 10306 NE Halsey (the only indian grocer on the east side, and their vada pav are slammmmmmin, they're very nice there and will help you with any question you have).
A recent list has been circulated with alternatives to white-owned ethnic restaurants was built because of the recent kooks burrito bullshit.

Oh, I would also throw Katchka in there. They're certainly elevating the cuisine, but it's owned by (i believe) Russians and Romanians. Their food is fantastic.

Obon PDX sells vegan Japanese comfort food that is an order of magnitude more delicious than anything else in town.
