What's the problem my KitchenAid stand mixer's thread ring?

A couple years back, I broke the glass bowl of our KitchenAid stand mixer. Bought a new bowl, but now the thread ring is loose.

When I use the mixer, inevitably the bowl comes loose from the thread ring. Attempts to manually tighten the thread ring result in the ring skipping past the threads on the glass bowl and spinning forever, a bit like a child-proof medicine cap. This is true both of the thread ring from the current bowl and of the thread ring from the old, broken bowl. Is the problem that I (most likely) put both these rings through the dishwasher at some point? Or did something worse happen?

Best answer: I'm guessing you're just going to have to get a new thread ring. This page says "Note: If your thread ring becomes loose or is lost, please Contact Us."

That page says not to put the thread ring in the lower rack of the dishwasher or in the microwave, so it sounds like high heat could damage it. Perhaps that's what happened?
