Can you identify this tree?

We are moving to our forever home very soon and it has a newish tree planted out front that we have been unable to identify. Online guides have been less than helpful. Help!

Going just by that gorgeous bark alone I would say it's some sort of pin cherry tree.

What part of the world? An aside, if it's as directly under the overhead power lines as it looks in the third image, you may want to nip it now.

Best answer: My guess is a type of Japanese tree lilac.

Response by poster: We're in Philadelphia. The Japanese lilac appears to be the best match and is one of the approved street trees Thanks!
