Converting old CPT files to something useful

Converting from an obsolete graphics format.

I have about 8,675,309 old photos and other images saved as old Corel Photo-Paint 9 (CPT) files that I'd like to convert to, well, just about any better/more universal bitmap format (preferably TIF). Is there a program to do this in one batch, or any other alternative to reinstalling Photo-Paint, loading, and resaving them all one at a time? My google-fu turned up nothing useful. Thanks!

For all your batch processing image needs.

It supports Corel CPT files from version 6 at least. So 9 should be OK too.

Just so other people don't go looking too, Irfanview and Imagemagick can't do version 9 of CPT (assuming the file formats changed)

Response by poster: Yeah, I tried it for the hell of it - no luck.

If you can't find a stand-alone utility that supports converting Corel Photo-Paint 9 files, Corel Photo-Paint itself appears to support batch processing. While using Photo-Paint's Batch Process obviously wouldn't eliminate the need to reinstall Photo-Paint, it would, however, eliminate having to load and resave each individual photo one at a time.

I think you can download a free trial version of the CorelDRAW suite which will do what you need. It's supposed to be a fully functional 30 day trial and a quick search in their support db suggests that it can handle the file type.
