Auto-reply texts from Google Voice number?

I have stopped using my Google voice number as my main number, but lots of folks still text me on it, despite having been told my new number. Is there a way to set up an automatic reply to tell them to text the new number instead?

Maybe something like this IFTTT script would work. I believe it will require you to have your GV messages sent to your Gmail inbox.

If you direct your text messages to your gmail, you can create an incoming mail filter to reply to only those messages like in this zdnet article.

I just have all my texts for different personal lines come into the same app so I can change the phone number I reply from and eventually everyone using my old number stopped doing it because I would only ever reply from my new number.

This is not an answer to the question you asked, but I wanted to make sure that you have this information. The google voice number is yours and you can port it out to another carrier.
