Would a cat by any other name be so fluffy?

Another name that cat question - I adopted a cat! Her shelter name was Boo, but I'm not feeling it. Can you help me find her name? Pictures. (She's absolutely gorgeous - these pictures aren't the best.) She's an almost six year old girl, at the shelter they said she was a bit of a princess, and so far she's pretty vocal, but she's still getting used to things. She's the only pet in the house. Open to any kind of name, but nerdy or witchy names get bonus points in my heart!

I agree--definitely not a Boo.
Her name is Diva!
She is gorgeous--congratulations on your new family member! And double congratulations on adopting an older shelter kitty.

Smoky black longhairs are some of my favorite cats ever. I've wanted to name a black longhaired kitty Gertrude, though I can't explain why.

Oh, except for the eye color she looks like our cat Alcibiades! I'm pretty sure their breed is the Chantilly Tiffany, so maybe Tiffany, or Tiff, or Tilly? Or, after one of the famous products of the town of Chantilly: cream or lace or race horses?

You is the name of Granny Weatherwax's cat.

Granny Weatherwax was a kickass witch. You is said to have been intended to play a key role in the plot near the end of the last book written by Terry Pratchett.

Plus it rhymes with Boo.

Ok here's what I do. I live with a cat for awhile before it gets "named". Usually at some serendipitous moment, the name pops into my head and I say it and the cat looks up and there's a sharp lightning strike, the distinct smell of fish or turnips, and there you have it Bob's Your Uncle.

Or as I call him, George.

I looked at your cat and did a stream of consciousness type of deal are you ready get ready okay lets go:

Molly, Max, Sam, Sally, Allie, Kim, Karen, Kate, K Money, 2 Chainz, Mao Mao, Rocky, Pocky, Maru, Yuki, Kuro, Tonkatsu, Yojimbo, Emma, Emmy, Steve McQueen, Future, Drake, Chance, Killer Mike, Colleen, Jun, June, Sunbae, G-DRAGON, Ken Wantanabe full name demanded at all times.

I am partial to K Money.

The best cat name I ever heard in my life was a one eyed cat named "General Martok, of the House of Martok". Marty, for short.

Caliope was the muse of singing. Persephone, since she had to live in Hades for half the year. Hildy, since several people have suggested Brunhilda.

I really like Greek names for cats. Maybe find a good list of Greek mythological names.

Response by poster: Thank you all so much for sharing your ideas (and compliments about my pretty girl!)

Despite the extensive list of names I had compiled, I ended up going with one that wasn't on any of the lists!

Her name is Pippa!

It came about because she's super vocal, and sometimes her meow is more of a squeak, so I told her, "Pipe down, Pipsqueak!" And then I thought Pipsqueak and Pip are both quote nicknames, and therefore, Pippa is her name. (AKA Her Royal Fluffiness, Pip, Pipsqueak, Pretty Kitty, and hey you get off of that!)

Thanks so much. <3
