how do I transfer videos to a DVD disc

I have windows 8.1 and I have pictures and videos inside the picture library. When I go into the picture library I see photos and I also have videos and those video icons have arrows in the center of them to indicate to me that they are videos. I can't seem to figure out how to transfer those videos to a DVD disc. I have DVD+R discs. Thank you.

Do you want to be able to play the DVDs in a DVD player, or burn the videos to a DVD for backup purposes?

Response by poster: I want to transfer some videos so my parents can see them of my daughter. They will play them on their DVD player for their tv.

I don't know what format your videos are, but you could give this a try: How to burn a DVD in Windows Media Center

I have 8.1 and it looks like satoshi's link is specific to Win 7/ won't work in 8.1. I just had a cursory look at Windows Media Player and it looks like you can use it to burn videos, but I don't see an obvious way to burn slideshows (i.e. the consecutive playback of photos), so you probably require 3rd party software to do this, eg DVDStyler, or Freemake Video Converter mentioned above.

Or to put it another way, your options appear to be:
a) ditch the photos and just make a DVD of the videos in Windows Media Player
b) download a 3rd party app and author your own disc which will allow your parents to choose/ play either the photos or the videos

Freemake will do the slide show process and permit a set display time for each slide, put in extra editions in the series of each photo if you want some to linger longer, the transition is seamless, lets you add a sound track as well. Takes a few tests to get the hang of the process but easy thereafter.
