Help me find a new Psychiatrist in SE MA or RI

I am desperately seeking a new psychiatrist in SE MA or RI. Details inside.

Last summer my insurance changed and I had to leave my long-term psychiatrist. It took months to find someone who took my insurance and was accepting new patients. After a few visits it's clear that this new guy just isn't a good fit for me. The first thing he did was take me off the Adderall and Klonopin that were working and start me on his pet antidepressant. I am currently a distracted, forgetful, paranoid wretch. He is also always late, which drives me nuts.

Anyway, I am seeking someone who a) takes United Health b) is accepting new patients and c) has experience working with Bipolar, anxiety and ADD. I live in North Attleboro and currently see doctors in Warwick RI and Norwood MA if that gives you an idea of my territory. I am willing to go to Boston if I get to see a fantastic doc.

One last thing, I have a therapist that I love and who I see weekly. I really just am looking for someone to help with the medication piece right now.

Please feel free to memail me. Thanks!

Hi, OP, finding a new psychiatrist can be a daunting task indeed. I live in AZ and have UHC also and have found the process of selecting a new provider to be very aggravating to say the least.

Just wanted to say that the folks at NAMI are available to help folks like ourselves to gain access to the services in the community that we need. Based on the information in your post, the Rhode Island chapter of the organization has listings of groups/classes and also a main number that you could call to inquire about local psychiatric providers in the Warwick area. Also, Massachusetts has local NAMI affiliate offices. They may not be able to comment about insurance coverage, but someone should be able to help you with some recommendations.

As annoying as it is, try calling UHC or going on their website to see who is in network with them and taking new patients. I work for an insurance company and we can sometimes help people find appointments. Good luck.
