Lately, I've been listening to Ruelle and Alina Baraz. I'm looking for more in this genre and I'm kind of surprised to be having such difficulty finding more of the same but I think it's because I'm looking for something very specific.

Here are two examples:

Other female vocal indie pop stuff is either too upbeat or somehow not "deep" enough. I'm looking for this sultry, haunting, visceral vocal style along with intense or cinematic instrumentals, ethereal beats. I love the contrasting complement Baraz' producer (Galimatias) creates with her voice, with those dreamy and deep beats. I know there are tons of music forums out there, but MeFites tend to come up with some really interesting stuff. I'll be looking forward to seeing what comes up. Thanks guys!

I always just turn to Fever Ray or The Knife for this, not sure if that's up your alley.

Best answer: Some suggestions via this article, which I remembered as a better match than it actually was:

HANA - "Chimera," "Avalanche," etc.
TOKiMONSTA (feat. Kiya Lacey) - "Heart on the Ground"
Låpsley - "Cliff," "Brownlow," "Station," etc.

Seconding FKA Twigs.

While these other suggestions are neither indie nor pop, they're things that spring to mind when I think about some of the things that you're interested in.

Tojiko Noriko has some great releases, this track 'White Film' got some good exposure when it was on a soundtrack, but her output generally has been super interesting, and again, ticks a lot of the terms you used. This track isn't beat-driven, but her other work has a lot of glitchy rhythm.

Savath y Savalas - they've 4 LPs, but here's a track to try. It's one of several of Scott Herren (Prefuse 73)'s projects. I think it ticks a lot of the terms you used above.

Juana Molina - she's got many great LPs, but I think the second one is my favourite.

Ruelle reminds me of the Cocteau Twins.

Alina Baraz (you've got good taste!) reminds me of Eisley and Frou Frou (who also does similar things as the solo artist Imogen Heap).
