Baseball. Protective barrier on the dugout.

I am so sure (of course, I am) that in the 80's or early 90's, a player got hit in the dugout by a line drive. And that is why the big protective barriers are up for the dugout. I know several have been hit since...Cano. Dietrich. Who was the, er, genesis of this, if I am (possilbly incorrectly) remembering this? I feel like this player went on to be a coach.

Best answer: It was in 1999, and dear old Don Zimmer who got hit.
