I need help with finding the answers for an ‘ancient boundaries of Yorkshire quiz’ for a charity quiz im completing. The theme & details for the quiz is: ‘cancer research - ancient boundaries of Yorkshire quiz', and the closing date is Monday 7th November. All answers can be found in or partly in the ancient boundaries of Yorkshire. I’ve posted the questions below which im struggling with and I've tried really hard working them out but i can't find the correct answers for the questions.

I’ve researched various sites & databases relating to Yorkshire on google but unfortunately ive had no luck with the answers, if anyone can please help me i would be really thankful for the help, thanks and kind regards

All answers are cryptic based:

For folks that are unfamiliar with cryptic formats,

(10) (3 words)

indicates that the answer is 10 letters long, and is composed of three words.

ancient boundaries of Yorkshire probably means you should also be looking at northern Lancashire, as well as parts of Cumberland, and Westmorland.

the white horse (sutton bank) is 13 letters, but i don't see how it fits the clue.

Mod note: Couple of comments deleted. Hi kelster1, moderator here. Sorry, AskMetafilter isn't going to be a good place to get help on puzzles of this kind going forward -- once is fine, but if you need ongoing help with many of them, it may be better to find a specialist cryptic puzzle forum.

Hi kelster1,

AskMeFi doesn't do repeated questions on the same topic in a short period - the mods will almost certainly delete subsequent posts.

The lack of answers in this thread isn't due to people not seeing the question, or not wanting to help, but that a large number of the members here are US based. Cryptics aren't as much of a big deal in the US as in the UK, and most folks here don't understand how they work. They're also not familiar with Yorkshire place names, which makes this doubly hard. I'm reasonably OK at cryptics, and had a go at the questions, but came up empty.

Good luck with the quiz!
