Where can I find more theories that explain it all

I'm a systems thinker. I like seeing the whole picture. What are some books, youtube videos, etc. that are useful in explaining why things are the way they are in a global way?

Some quick examples that come to mind are:

A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking is a book that tries to explain how the universe came to be.
The Innovator's Dilemma by Clayton M. Christensen is a book that tries to explain why incumbent established businesses often get disrupted by innovative new startup companies.
Here is an entertaining youtube video based on the book The Dictator's Handbook by Bruce Bueno de Mesquita that tries to explain the nature of politics and what it takes for a person to attain and maintain power.

Thanks in advance for sharing your favorite examples.

I'm currently reading Thinking in Systems: A Primer .

There are a ton of videos from MIT's SDM classes on YouTube.

I find the understanding complexity and non-linear systems and dynamics is also important in understanding how the world works. There are a lot of introductory books on this topic. You should check out the Santa Fe Institute for resources related to complexity and non-linear dynamics.

If you like economics, the Freakonomics podcast often discusses economics issues from a very big picture, why-do-people-do-something-the-way-they-do perspective.

I'm so happy I'm the first person to recommend CGP Grey! This is literally what he does, and he is amazing at it.

He just did one on the rules for rulers, and it does a really good job of explaining some really difficult political realities.
