Where to for Seattle guerilla wedding?

What are the best free or nearly free places in or quite close to Seattle that would be nice for a small 8 person wedding party to have a ceremony? We are thinking outdoors, like at a park, like Gas Works Park for instance.

That's about it! We're hoping for a place that doesn't need to be reserved, or if it does is not too expensive. Wedding is November 10th. There will be 8 of us, ceremony would take approximately 30 minutes. Would love some nice natural features, i.e. water view, mountain views or an awesome tree or something like that.

Seahurst park in Burien is quite nice and the southernmost and northernmost picnic shelters are isolated from the parking area/playground.

What about getting married on a ferry? They have lots of views. Matthews Beach in Lake City is out of the way but still cool.

Apologies if this is obvious, but you can not count on dry weather for an outdoor wedding in Seattle in November...

That said, I went to a very nice wedding at Magnolia Park once. I don't know what the price is, but I can't imagine its too much (though everyone's definition of "not too expensive" is different).

Response by poster: We will have an indoor back-up plan!

Discovery Park, Carkeek Park, and Seward Park are all pretty large. If there's just 8 of you, I'm sure there's some out of the way nook in any of these parks that the ceremony could be performed at.

Alternatively, you could go small and just take over an entire parklet for the ceremony.

My son and his wife had a nice wedding in a park overlooking the sound. It was in the Ballard district of town, nice and small with a good view. FYI City of Seattle charges for rental of parks for weddings.

On the steps of the sculpture in Kerry Park.

in a park overlooking the sound.

Probably Golden Gardens? You'll notice there is a largeish note on that page about weddings in Seattle parks. For less hassle, if everyone is able-bodied, I'd go to Discovery Park and find a place you like along the Loop Trail. Bigger park, fewer people, you're unlikely to wind up with any problems.

Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, in Shoreline, has a reservable areas that are under $100 and have a good view of the Sound. It's not Golden Gardens, etc, but they're fine. (Don't get the lower beach shelter -- it's very much a shelter for picnics and barbeques, not weddings.)

On November 10th, a weekday, I wouldn't even bother reserving a shelter there. They'll probably be empty. The beach itself is nice there, too. Parking is easy. There might be trains. There will be dogs.

Richmond Beach is a good suggestion.

I like Fremont Peak Park. It's quite small, a great view, and has a sundial.

Just a suggestion for your indoor backup plan: The Butterfly Atrium at Pacific Science Center has hosted a good number of engagements and weddings, and it's not exactly roomy for a big party, but for 8 people, everyone can swing their own cat without hitting anyone else. Call the Group Events folks and ask what it'll cost you to book 30 minutes in there alone-- they can do it during or after hours. 80F and 80% humidity is a little bit of a challenge to elaborate hair, heavyweight wedding suits, and anyone who has been too nervous to eat all day, but I suspect it'll feel like heaven on the 10th of November.

You can do it during or after hours; PSC is partly manned until the last IMAX movie lets out, so one more party here or there isn't a costly burden. If you want to have dinner among the dinosaurs, they can do that too.

The Arboretum is beautiful and has views of Lake Union that are a 10 minute stroll from the main parking area.

I officiated a wedding for friends that was a lot like this in Seward Park.

Kubota Gardens in Renton is also lovely.

This spot at Snoqualmie Point Park. There is also this cool looking shelter if (when) it rains.

If it were me, I'd get married at the Fremont troll. And you'd be sheltered from rain.
