Halloween costume for a blue-haired 8 year old

My 8 year old son cannot decide what he wants to be for Halloween. He has turquoise blue hair, which doesn't have to be part of his costume, but I mean, if you're going to have blue hair, you may as well make the most of it at Halloween, eh?

I suggested rock star (punk or whatever) but he isn't interested.

He doesn't want to be a character. He doesn't want to be anything scary. Looking up halloween costumes for kids hasn't inspired him, so I thought I'd ask here.

Fun fact: I asked a question nine years ago about Halloween costumes when he and his two brothers were in utero. (The other two are going to be Ash from Pokemon and a ninja.)

Or if he's into wordplay, he could be "the blues" by wearing various shades of blue clothing and carrying around a Bluetooth* speaker playing famous blues songs?

*Or he could be Bluetooth...

Does he watch/like anime? Because the list of anime characters with blue hair will far outweigh the list of any other characters with blue hair

This but with an ocean theme. Fish, shells, starfish, boat, etc.

A bluejay, or bluebird?

The ocean. Make a headband with tiny seagulls + clouds on wires, spike his hair into "waves" then blue clothes with various ocean animals glued/pinned on. Get really nerdy by making the blue get darker towards his feet, put the tropical fish up at the top, maybe a giant squid + whale in the middle & some little LED light up creatures in the darker parts. Maybe even sculpt a deep-ocean volcanic vent with some weird worm things on one foot. Educational!

If you don't want to teach him a lot of cuss words and send him as a blue streak, how about making him a photographic negative?

Have him wear a blue shirt and blue pants, and paste on a giant version of the Metafilter logo so he can be "The Blue". Have him ask, "Are you from the internet?" instead of saying, "Trick or Treat!" He could give out little thank you cards to every house he visits that say, "1 trick or treater marked this house as a favorite".

If you're American, you could put white stars in his hair and he could wear red and white stripes, as the flag.

He could wear descending ombré shades of yellow, orange, red, and black, and spike his hair, and be a flame.

I have no idea if Sonic the hedgehog is popular with the kids these days, but blue hair lends itself to that. It's a character, but it sort of ties in with the Pokemon costume.

Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians? His hair is maybe ice blue rather than turquoise blue but I don't think most folks will care.

If he's a (huge) fan of Harry Potter (and changes his mind about the character vs concept debate) consider that Remus Lupin's son Teddy had blue hair.

Or how about an alien? Light blue face paint, eyestalk headband or use face putty to make ridges. If not Jedi robes or a Star Trek uniform then build an alien-like outfit from whatever you've got handy.

I like the suggestion of Rick Sanchez, but since this is a child we're talking about, I think the better suggestion is Tiny Rick.

Follow up suggestion: Twitter

Additional follow up suggestion, if he wants to be something scary: Twitter, accompanied by a screenshot of that DNS error we all got a few days ago when the site was down for like 6+ hours

Response by poster: Thanks for all the suggestions! In the end, he decided to be a ninja. And then his brothers decided they wanted to be ninjas too. Sigh. On the bright side, for the first time in years, they're in coordinating costumes, and I didn't even have to push for it!
