Another one of these!
There is a book I have been trying to remember (for no real reason) for 157 years, and I'm finally going to ask. Early to mid-1970s, color illustrations, gems, a little girl...
Early to mid-1970s, color illustrations, gems, a little girl...
I remember VERY LITTLE of this book. What I think I remember is:
* likely published between 1972-1977
* water color illustrations (I think? Could have been colored pencil. But I think it was watercolor)
* main character is a little white girl around 8 years old with reddish brown long hair
* she is naked either all, or most, of the book
* she has no family that I recall
* might live near a river/in the forest
* she finds beautiful gemstones and jewels in the water she lives near
That's really it. It was so pretty, and I remember just really loving to look at it, and my daughter right now is in a "I like looking at it" phase so it'd be nice to share it with her. Thanks for your help!
