I'm unfamiliar with drugs. Is this weed that I found in the parking lot?
Hi there. I found this little baggie of stuff in the parking lot. Drugs aren't my thing, but I'd be happy to give it to a friend. Before I do, two questions:
1. Is that weed? I think it is, but maybe not? Is it possible that it's a synthetic?
2. It looks kind of crumbly...is it just the dregs of someone's stash, or is it worth giving to a friend?

No one should be giving you feedback on random parking lot weed via the internet. Give it to a friend who can determine via their own risk tolerance whether they want to try it out. Most people who smoke have some idea of what weed smells like (as opposed to, say, oregano).

It could be anything. It looks a lot like the dried catnip that gingerbeer's mom's sometimes sends us. Just toss it.

I've smoked weed I found on the ground before - I work a day job in a nightlife district, ok?!? I would regard this as crappy shake at best and something suspect at worst. Probably not worth giving to anyone.

To answer your question, yes, it kind of looks like weed based on the not-very-good picture you posted. It also looks like catnip, as rtha pointed out. In my experience as a long-ago stoner, pot smokers usually hang on tightly to their weed, especially in places where it's not always easy or convenient to come by. So I'd put my money on catnip.
Although people don't tend to cut marijuana with anything harmful, and despite what everyone's dirtbag stoner buddy's older brother might tell you, nobody sells weed with a more potent drug secret mixed in with it, you should still just toss it out for both safety and legal reasons.

Looks like weed, but for all you know it is laced with PCP, which would fuck you up reeeeal bad. It also looks pretty dry and crappy, and slightly resembles potpourri. If you want to get some weed, just visit Colorado, Oregon or Washington where you can go into the store and buy it. Much more civilized than smoking weed (we hope) you found in a parking lot.

Looks more like loose green tea to me, but: don't use it for anything. Seriously. Don't give it to a friend. Don't do anything but throw it away or put it back where you found it. Weed is easy to get.

Looks sorta like weed. People who use weed generally don't lose/abandon weed.
People who use weed generally *do* ditch fake weed after they realize they've been scammed. My money's on intentionally faked weed, either via culinary herb mix or Spice-type nonsense.

Back when I did drugs I was what we called a "garbage can," meaning I'd basically consume whatever drugs were offered to me and even I didn't smoke found "weed."

You guys are giving stoners a lot of credit. (And to be fair, I am an ex-stoner.) I can totally see someone accidentally dropping their shitty weed in a parking lot. That does look like shitty weed to me. If you have a friend who smokes weed, they'll be able to tell what it is for sure by smelling it.
But nthing everyone else, no matter what it is, this a really great thing to throw in the trash.

Even if it's real, weed can be laced with other things and you can't know if this was laced with anything. I wouldn't smoke it or give it to anyone else to smoke.

This looks sort of weed adjacent but not enough so that I would pick it up off the ground in a parking lot, let alone even contemplating consuming it in any way.
(Nthing that this looks like scammy fake weed/oregano sold to someone in hopes that they wouldn't know the difference.)

I think it looks like spice, but it's just a picture and I have no idea. I agree with giving it to a friend who is not drug-naive and would be able to recognise the very distinctive smell.
I think this is a 'better answered in person' thing because you are getting a few wacky answers here, including the decades-old myth that marijuana is likely to be 'laced' with a stronger drug. People do not give away harder-to-find and more valuable drugs as a surprise gift-with-purchase thing for weed buyers. It is a 'razor blades in Hallowe'en apples' story.

Weed is pretty cheap almost everywhere. That stuff looks like shit if it is weed. Just toss it. Unless you're a freegan and routinely eat food you find on the street, then by all means go nuts.

I have friends who have bought weed in San Francisco and based on the experience they've had as a result, been pretty sure it was not straight-up weed.

You're assuming it was dropped by accident. I would be worried that it was dropped for a reason. In that case, the reason was almost certainly not so that you could make your friends happy.

I can tell you one thing for sure. It doesn't look like GOOD weed. And if you're gonna smoke, don't waste your time with garbage pot. Just add this to your moral code, bro....

Looks like either shitty weed or salvia to me, but then I haven't seen salvia in like a decade and am not even sure if it's still a thing.
Oh and anecdotal but I bought some sage at the grocery store on the weekend and it came in a little baggie like that and I honestly couldn't visually tell the difference from weed, and I'm a daily smoker.

It doesn't look like weed to me. If you want to try IDing it by smell, weed smells kind of like armpit. But then so does catnip. Oregano smells like pizza. Even if it were weed it's probably like less than $10 worth, you might as well just throw it out.

Since a fair number of commenters are saying it looks like poor quality weed at best, I just wanted to add my opinion that it doesn't look like weed at all to me--not even poor quality weed or "shake" (the loose leavings that fall off proper bud)--and I have, uh, extensive experience.

Maybe not, but heaven knows what else could have gotten on it or in it. Some cat could have pissed on it, the last person who handled it could have had filth all over their hands - I think "don't put it in your mouth, you don't know where it's been" applies here even if it wasn't deliberately tampered with.

If you zoom in on the image you can see lots of little round white flower-looking things in there. Without a doubt not weed. Might be catnip. Forget the "could be laced with PCP" nonsense but even if it was weed it's not much & not high quality. Like everybody's saying, just toss it.

If it isn't weed, you don't want it. If it is weed, you don't know the quality. And if it is weed and you give it to a friend, then you have (potentially) committed delivery of a controlled substance, depending on your jurisdiction. All for a mystery substance that you didn't pay for and have no interest in. Just throw it away.

Double throw it away because it looks like that fake weed- Spice- that they used to sell in the gas stations around here until it was banned because 50 people a day were ending up in the emergency room.
