How to download apps from the Google Chrome Store?

Hello, everyone. I have an Acer Chromebook C720. In the past, I've been able to download apps. Now I can't. I get a never ending "checking" notice. I've checked all imaginable forums. It apparently is an issue, but there doesn't seem to be any simple resolution. Has anyone successfully resolved this issue or else might have a way to troubleshoot it? Thank you.

Best answer: Backup any data you have on there (luckily the Chromebooks encourage cloud storage so hopefully you don't have much), then powerwash it. If that doesn't fix it, I don't know what will.
