Not Florence Foster-Jenkins.

Can you help my fiancé remember the name of a singer who had a cable access show in the 1980s, and who sang arias very badly?

My lovely partner had THOUGHT he was thinking of Florence Foster-Jenkins, but she had apparently been dead for quite some time by the 1980s.

Details he remembers:

- She made people listen to her sing arias, and she had a terrible voice
- She was some sort of philanthropist
- She made an album of Puccini arias, and the album had a picture of her on the cover, holding a candle.

We are local to New York, if that helps in terms of the cable show.

Best answer: Okay I think he's thinking of Florence Morrison. I have a weird collection of crap in my brain and I remember minutiae like crazy.
I remember reading a piece about Richard Roffman years ago and that led me to google him which led me to Florence Morrison.

I could be totally wrong. If I am, I am very interested in the correct answer now that I am down the interwebs rabbit hole.

Looks like you can still buy Morrison's album on Amazon for a mere $289.
